Once Upon A Dream : From Perrault's Sleeping Beauty to Disney's Maleficent Review by Nuleo The Pupept

Hello everybody and once again welcome to Nuleo the Puppet Channel
This time I’ve decided to make another review of a very recent book, this with the arrival of the live action movie adaptation of Sleeping Beauty… Maleficent.  And this one is another book by Solomon.

Usually when there’s a release of a Disney live action movie like Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Pirates of the Caribbean or even John Carter, Disney launches an art book of the film. This time it didn’t make a book out of Maleficent but of Sleeping Beauty instead.
This book contains kind of a celebration or homage to the 1959 version of the story. We can witness the growth of the Sleeping Beauty tale since the Disney version and there on to the actual Maleficent version. All of this with super interesting details about the movie. We can see Aurora’s model sheet, character studies among backgrounds and art studies.
Then we are transported to the recent Maleficent movie, and even though there are not enough pages an art book should have (I mean if the Maleficent part was released as a single book), it has the right amount and it turns out to be a rather complete edition.
So this book is a deluxe edition of sorts and even if you like the 1959 Sleeping Beauty and dislike the recent Maleficent, it is still a good buy. If you enjoy both of the movies well then, it’s a mandatory purchase hehe and buy the book while it’s fresh because it seems to be one of those editions which may latter run out.

My score for this book is:
90%
It’s an amazing book indeed! So, if you’d like to help us you can subscribe to our channel, like and comment our video and go buy this book through our Amazon links.

Comic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and The Curse of Maleficent - Nule...

Hi guys!

Today I’ll be making some book suggestions that might interest you.

The first one is part of a collection called “All-Action Classics” which are the creation of  the artist Ben Caldwell, who has worked in children's and comic book illustration.
So, this is the fourth book of the collection, it’s the adaptation of the Wizard of Oz and it couldn’t be better!
It’s a very visually appealing book and the style of Ben Caldwell is phenomenal. There’s some attractive backgrounds, fantastic character design and really vibrant colors. My only negative comment about this book it’s the size, really small. But seeing that the price lowers as well might not be that much of a deal. If you want to buy a copy and help us, click on the Amazon links below.

Another suggestion this time by Disney Editions. It’s the adaptation from the recent Disney movie “Maleficent” and it presents us with marvelous art by Nicholas Kole.
If you have enjoyed the film, inside this book there’s a kind of a light version of the story being presented with some cool and appealing illustrations.
And for the price of the book as of this time, it surely is highly recommendable to be on a collection.
The links for buying the book are in the description below also.

I hope you enjoyed my suggestions and I’ll be back soon with another review.

Lovely: Ladies of Animation Review by Nuleo The Puppet

Hello everybody once again!
This time I brought a new book “Lovely: Ladies of Animation”

Now here’s a book that took a long time to be published, which had some changes on the release date. But luckily it was worth it! The book is absolutely gorgeous.

It contains some artistic works from 6 great artists that work for Disney: Lorelay Bove, Brittney Lee, Claire Keane, Lisa Keene, Victoria Ying and Helen Chen.

For the cover art, although it doesn’t include a dustcover, it is very robust and the art is very beautiful and appealing.

Then, it begins by presenting us with an introduction by the great animator Glen Keane and a foreword text by John Lasseter.
Now, most of these artists have been working on quite recent movies like Frozen, Tangled, Frankenweenie, Wreck-it Ralph among others.

For each illustration there is a quick and interesting description written by the artist.
And there are a lot of work here for us to marvel but none related to any Disney characters or movies.
Also, near the end of the book, we find all of the artists’ photos and blog sites, which is great if you want to know more about their work.

Even though the book seems almost perfect, there’s a slight problem in my opinion. The paper quality is really good and glossy but sometimes there are a few illustrations that could have a better resolution. But nothing that bothers me that much as well. Oh, and I also think that they could’ve featured more works of each artist, since each artist has a lot more work to show us. That’s why I was expecting a larger book, honestly.

The book is published by Design Studio Press but in the meanwhile there’s another version of this book on pre-order, this time by Titan Books. I’ll be posting the link for the present version on the comments section, for you to purchase and in doing so it’ll be a quicker purchase and you’ll be helping us doing more reviews.
On a final note, it is a very inspiring book for an illustrator or animator, and also for someone who’s interested in art, seeing that there’s different styles representing the 6 artists. It is without a doubt, a magnificent asset for a collector’s bookshelf.

My score is… 87%.

I hope you enjoyed this review; I’ll be waiting for all your comments.

The Art of Frozen Review by Nuleo The Puppet

Hello everybody and welcome to my Blog!
I shall introduce myself, my name is Nuleo and i'm addicted to movies, anime, games, art figures and everything related to animation.
I've decided to create this blog in order to share with you my collection and to make some nice reviews.

For my first review I’ve decided upon a book quite recent... “The Art of Frozen”.

But I have to warn you that if you don't like spoilers you must first watch the movie and then read the book. That’s important.... oh how I hate spoilers.
We can begin by talking about the author. Every book written by Solomon is impressive. I have a few more that he wrote and I will make some reviews about them as well.

Now for the cover art. It isn't that bad, but there are books with nicer and artistic covers. this one seems like the two characters, Anna and Elsa, are twins and it relates Elsa to some ice-type environment? But Anna to some jungle ... all that green? Awkward. Knowing about all the beautiful illustrations inside the book I would expect a different cover picture.
But upon opening the book, what can we see. We have an introduction and some explanations about the original story until it became the story we know. there are lots of pages with dark background, which is strange for a book based on a movie with light blue colors, snow, northern places.... I would prefer lighter colors. The book has a lot of storyboards, which is interesting to realize all the differences from the movie. Next we can marvel upon the architecture, a few color studies and some clothing that came to inspire the movie style.

I personally prefer seeing character drawings and designs. Fortunately the movie has enough for us to treat ourselves with some character art. Although there are some sketches and expression poses regarding Elsa and Anna that they could've given more relevance.
We’ve seen a lot about how the characters were before they turned into their final versions and how much different Elsa’s hair was, it had kind of a Mohawk which is interesting i guess. I’m just glad they've changed it...honestly.

Then there's reference to the song clip "love is an open door" near the end of the book...why is that I don't know nor I understand.

But long story short, it's a great and important book, seeing that frozen was one of the most money making animated movies recently. The movie is gorgeous and so is the book.
In my opinion there are too much pages with storyboards and I would've changed them for some character art. The art studies and background designs are all there, the characters design are there, the visual is there... it's a great book. There’s a lot more pro's rather than cons and if you're a fan of the movie just go ahead and buy it! And even if you aren't but enjoy animation, it's a really cool book to own. And if you study animation as well then here's a great reference book!

My score is..... 85 percent
